Old House Tee

Not for sale yet. This design is a preview, so there's nothing to buy today.

A T-shirt for remembering a house, or for one that's still standing: an old farmhouse at dusk with a lit upstairs window and the porch lamp on, and from the roof and chimney it lifts off into the evening as small moths.

It has no words on it, so it wears as an everyday shirt, and only the person wearing it has to know which house it is. It's a quiet gift for someone who grew up in a place like this.

Color: Chambray

Relaxed, boxy heavyweight tee with dropped shoulders. Most people take their usual size; size up one for an oversized look.

Care

Garment-dyed, so each shirt's color varies slightly.

Colors on screen are approximate, and light inks can look slightly tinted on red or maroon shirts. A faint square around the print right out of the package is the printer's pretreatment and washes out in the first wash.

Observe a little closer.

Look at the top of the house: the walls, porch and lit window stay solid, and only the ridge, the left gable and the chimney's top bricks come loose, turning into moths that thin out as they rise. The edge mattered too. The meadow breaks into loose flecks at the bottom, so the picture fades into the shirt instead of ending in a hard line.

Print artwork: a small old two-story farmhouse at dusk in a meadow of tall grass dotted with small white flowers, drawn in dark brown line. One upstairs window glows yellow and a lamp is lit on the front porch. The walls and porch are whole, but the roof ridge, the left gable and the top of the brick chimney break into small moths, some with orange wings, that drift up and away and thin out into dots high above, with a few loose bricks lifting off the chimney. A crescent moon, a clothesline with one small tee, and three pines on a green hill. The meadow's lower edge breaks into loose flecks.
