Grandma's Chair Tee

Not for sale yet. This design is a preview, so there's nothing to buy today.

A T-shirt for grandma's chair, whether she's out in it every evening or you're remembering her there: an empty rocking chair on the porch at dusk, her knitted shawl over the back and a mug still steaming on the rail, while one strand of the shawl unravels into a flock of starlings.

It has no words and no angel wings, so it wears as an everyday shirt, and only the person wearing it has to know whose chair it is.

Color: Ivory

Relaxed, boxy heavyweight tee with dropped shoulders. Most people take their usual size; size up one for an oversized look.

Care

Garment-dyed, so each shirt's color varies slightly.

Colors on screen are approximate, and light inks can look slightly tinted on red or maroon shirts. A faint square around the print right out of the package is the printer's pretreatment and washes out in the first wash.

Observe a little closer.

Follow the strand of yarn: it comes off the end of the shawl, loops once in the air, and the starlings pick up where it stops. The edge took some care. The scene kept growing into a hard-edged block, so it was brought back to break up into loose flecks all round, the way Last Light pictures fade into the shirt.

Print artwork: an empty wooden rocking chair on an old porch at dusk, seen from the side, under a lit lantern on the porch post. A rust knitted shawl hangs over the chair's back, and one strand of its yarn trails off in a loose curl toward a flock of small dark birds flying up and away past a crescent moon. A mug with steam curling from it sits on the porch rail. Beyond are a green field with a low fence, dark pines, a small cabin with one lit window and a rose-brown ridge, with a few falling leaves and small yellow dots of fireflies. The edges break into loose dark flecks.
