Observe a little closer.

The molasses runs off the jug's lip and pools at the bottom, right next to the cookie it went into. The jug has its own folk pattern of leaves and dots.

Print artwork: a knob of fresh ginger root with one round slice cut, a cream jug with a leaf and dot pattern pouring a thick thread of dark molasses into a puddle, and a gingerbread star cookie with white icing dots.
