Observe a little closer.

Look at their feet. Rings spread out from where they stand, the way they would if you touched the water with one finger, and their reflection carries on underneath them. The hard part was getting them on top of the lake: for a long while they kept reading as two people wading. The other was keeping them small, with the starry sky all the way around them.

Print artwork: a couple slow dancing barefoot on the surface of a still dark lake at night, she with long curly hair blowing out behind her and a long pale peach dress, her head on his shoulder, he tall in a pale shirt and trousers, turned half away. Thin rings spread from their feet and their reflection lies in the water below them. Gold fireflies float over the lake, cattails stand at the near edge and bare saplings on the far shore, all inside a wavy dark blue edge.
