Observe a little closer.

The whale is drawn as a real humpback, with the long grooved throat and the very long flippers with knobbly edges. Her arm hangs loose over one of them. Somebody is still up in two of the houses underneath.

Print artwork: a woman with long box braids, in a long cream nightgown, sleeps stretched along the back of a pale grey-blue humpback whale that swims through the night air, one arm hanging over its flipper. Below them is a row of dark rooftops and chimneys with a church spire, and two windows are lit yellow. Gold stars cover a deep blue sky that turns violet toward the roofs, with bare trees at either side.
