Nutcracker Specimen Tee

Not for sale yet. This design is a preview, so there's nothing to buy today.

A nutcracker T-shirt: a carved wooden nutcracker drawn like a specimen in an old field guide, standing at attention on its round base, with cracked walnuts at its feet and a grey mouse looking up at it.

Beside it is a smaller drawing of its head from the side, with the lever at the back swung down and the jaw dropped open, so you can see how it cracks a nut. There's no ballet and no sugar plum fairy on this one.

Color: Ice Blue

Relaxed, boxy heavyweight tee with dropped shoulders. Most people take their usual size; size up one for an oversized look.

Care

Garment-dyed, so each shirt's color varies slightly. Wash cold to keep the length.

Colors on screen are approximate, and light inks can look slightly tinted on red or maroon shirts. A faint square around the print right out of the package is the printer's pretreatment and washes out in the first wash.

Observe a little closer.

The jacket, hat and boots carry little painted leaf patterns, and the hinge is drawn as carefully as the face. It came from one round of three drafts, and one of the two thrown out drew the side view as a cut-off torso instead of a head.

Print artwork: a carved wooden nutcracker standing at attention on a round base, in a tall green hat with a red plume, a red and green jacket with brass buttons, a white sash and a long white beard, its square teeth showing. Beside it, smaller, its head drawn in side view with the jaw dropped open and the lever at the back swung down, with an arrow. At its feet are cracked walnuts, and a small grey mouse sits up and looks at it.
