December Narcissus Birth Flower Art Print

Not for sale yet. This design is a preview, so there's nothing to buy today.

A December birth flower art print: clusters of small white narcissus on slender stems, printed on the face of a cream seed packet from Bureau Seed Co., a seed house that never existed.

Two clusters of small white star flowers stand on slender stems among long narrow leaves. NARCISSUS runs across a cornflower blue band at the top, a 5¢ seal sits beside the flowers, a bulb fills the small round frame in the corner, and DECEMBER · BIRTH FLOWER runs along the bottom. It is No. 12 of twelve, one for each month, all laid out the same way so they read as a set.

Observe a little closer.

December started as holly, and we moved the holly to a Christmas design to make room for the paperwhite narcissus. The flowers had to read as clusters of small white stars, so the bulb moved out of the picture and into the round frame in the corner. Look at their tiny yellow cups: they keep this packet apart from March's one big yellow trumpet.

Print artwork: a cream paper seed packet at a slight tilt, with a thin cornflower blue border set with diamonds and dots, and BUREAU SEED CO. · No. 12 on its flap. NARCISSUS is printed in cream on a cornflower blue band at the top, beside a round cornflower blue seal reading 5¢. On the packet: two clusters of small white six-petalled star flowers with yellow centres and a few buds, on slender stems among long narrow leaves. In a small round frame at the lower left, a papery bulb with roots and two shoots. The bottom band reads DECEMBER · BIRTH FLOWER.
