October Marigold Birth Flower Framed Print

Not for sale yet. This design is a preview, so there's nothing to buy today.

An October birth flower framed art print: one ruffled orange marigold and its bud, printed on the face of a cream seed packet from Bureau Seed Co., a seed house that never existed.

A ruffled orange marigold and its bud stand on a stem of feathery leaves, framed by a deep teal border. MARIGOLD runs across a teal band at the top, a 5¢ seal sits beside the bloom, and OCTOBER · BIRTH FLOWER runs along the bottom. It is No. 10 of twelve, one for each month, all laid out the same way so they read as a set.

Observe a little closer.

Look at the feathery leaves against the deep teal packet: autumn without a pumpkin. We chose the marigold over cosmos, as the October flower we expected people to look for. Two blooms were tried and dropped, since every packet holds one flower. Loose seeds were tried in the round frame too, but they read as little carrots, so a seedling took their place.

Print artwork: a cream paper seed packet at a slight tilt, with a thin teal border set with diamonds and dots, and BUREAU SEED CO. · No. 10 on its flap. MARIGOLD is printed in cream on a teal band at the top, beside a round teal seal reading 5¢. On the packet: one ruffled orange marigold with gold-edged petals and a closed bud, on a stem with finely cut, feathery leaves. In a small round frame at the lower left, a seedling with two leaves in a little soil. The bottom band reads OCTOBER · BIRTH FLOWER.
