April Sweet Pea Birth Flower Art Print

Not for sale yet. This design is a preview, so there's nothing to buy today.

An April birth flower art print: a sprig of pink, lavender and magenta sweet peas, printed on the face of a cream seed packet from Bureau Seed Co., a seed house that never existed.

Three ruffled flowers, pink, lavender and magenta, climb a sprig with tendrils curling off every side. SWEET PEA runs across a slate blue band at the top, a 5¢ seal sits beside the sprig, and APRIL · BIRTH FLOWER runs along the bottom. It is No. 04 of twelve, one for each month, all laid out the same way so they read as a set.

Observe a little closer.

Three colours share one sprig: pink, lavender and deep magenta, each flower with a white centre. Count the tendrils curling off it, and find the small pink bud on the left. We chose the sweet pea over the daisy because it makes the richer drawing, and a daisy would have sat too close to January's carnation and November's chrysanthemum.

Print artwork: a cream paper seed packet at a slight tilt, with a thin slate blue border set with diamonds and dots, and BUREAU SEED CO. · No. 04 on its flap. SWEET PEA is printed in cream on a slate blue band at the top, beside a round slate blue seal reading 5¢. On the packet: a sprig of three ruffled sweet peas, pink, lavender and magenta, each with a white centre, plus a small pink bud, curling tendrils and oval leaves. In a small round frame at the lower left, a sprouting pea with a short shoot, two small leaves and a tendril. The bottom band reads APRIL · BIRTH FLOWER.
