Black Bear in Winter Tee

Not for sale yet. This design is a preview, so there's nothing to buy today.

A black bear T-shirt for winter: a slice of hillside cut open under the snow, with a mother bear asleep in her den under the tree roots and two small cubs tucked against her.

It's drawn like a diagram from an old field guide, so you can see every layer: the snow on top, the roots and stones, and the den lined with dry grass, its door drifted shut with snow from outside.

Color: Butter

Relaxed, boxy heavyweight tee with dropped shoulders. Most people take their usual size; size up one for an oversized look.

Care

Garment-dyed, so each shirt's color varies slightly.

Colors on screen are approximate, and light inks can look slightly tinted on red or maroon shirts. A faint square around the print right out of the package is the printer's pretreatment and washes out in the first wash.

Observe a little closer.

The cubs are easy to miss at first: two small black cubs curled at her belly. The first drawings let snow inside the den and cut the spruce off at the top, so here the little spruce is whole and the snow stays outside, drifted in over the entrance. The cubs were brown at first; now they're black like her, with small tan muzzles.

Print artwork: a slice of snowy hillside cut straight down. On top is a band of pale blue snow with two bare saplings, a small green spruce and tufts of dry golden grass. Below it, the trees' roots spread through leaf litter and orange-brown soil with a few pale stones. Under the roots, a round den lined with golden grass holds a black bear asleep on her side, eyes closed and tan muzzle tucked down, with two small black cubs curled against her chest. A tunnel leads in from the hillside on the left, with snow drifted over its mouth.
